Claire views gun violence as a public health issue. In Olympia, she has fought for and passed legislation to ensure that in homes where children are living, adults are practicing safe, responsible gun ownership. As a community member and as a legislator she supports common sense gun reforms like increasing the purchasing age to 21 for semi-automatic assault rifles and strengthening background checks.

Like too many of us, Claire has personally been touched by gun violence. One of her best friends died due to suicide with a gun when they were were in their 20’s. Her death impacted Claire greatly, and is a driving force behind her commitment to pass common sense gun laws that keep our friends, families, and communities safer.
